Holiday Family Fun Day - Explorers Ahoy

Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and spend time with your family. This year’s Holiday Family Fun Day theme is Explorers Ahoy! Beginning at 10:00 am on Friday, December 22, with activities and events happening for the entire day. Drop in for the English or French screening of Disney’s Moana, learn how to hula dance with Monique Ryan of Serpentine Studios, navigate using the stars with Discovery Centre’s mobile planetarium and get crafty with Andrea Tsang Jackson. Whatever adventure you choose, expect a fun learning experience and a chance to reconnect with your family. Family Fun Day is included with regular Museum admission.

Vimy Conference

In tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, Dr. Mélanie Morin-Pelletier, First World War Historian, delves into how this tactical victory became an emblematic event for Canada. The bilingual presentation takes place at the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 on Friday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m. This is free event is timed to coincide with Remembrance Day activities throughout Halifax.

The Vimy Conference, presented in partnership with Alliance Française Halifax, will be of interest to historians, researchers, veterans, students, and all who are intrigued by Canada’s military history.

Letters from the Front: A Remembrance Day Performance

A moving Remembrance Day tribute, Letters from the Front is a three-part contemporary dance inspired by the Second World War correspondence of the choreographer’s grandparents. Performed by members of Halifax Dance’s Young Company, audiences will be lead through a series of site-specific dances, punctuated by excerpts from the letters. A unique and intimate homage, Letters from the Front takes place at the Museum this Remembrance Day.
