War Bride
Country of Origin: Scotland
Name of Ship: Volendam
Date of Arrival: June 8th, 1945
Port of Arrival: Halifax Pier 21

I arrived in Canada as a War Bride in 1945. My husband preceded me two weeks earlier. We lived in Washage, Ont. For five years and then in Pickering, Ont. We had four children and enjoyed a happy married life together. My husband died in a car accident in 1972. In 1979 I remarried another veteran of W.W.2 who served overseas (England). He died of a heart attack in 1988 and since then I have enjoyed family around, lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have been blessed during my life in Canada. Scotland is my home country but Canada is my adopted country and I have so much to be thankful for. God bless Canada!
