Vera Kadar nee Kovacs

Hungarian Immigrant
Queen Anna Maria
May 2, 1968

Came with a cruise ship from Haifa, Israel and after the official emigration procedure which took a few hours and barely had time to take a good look at Halifax, returned to the ship and continued to New York City to spend some time with my cousin.

2 weeks later I flew to Montreal on the miserable, rainy Victoria Day.

Everything was closed, the airport limo driver dropped me in front of the Hotel de la Salle on Drummond Street and the rest is history.

By Friday I had a job at RCA Ltd. It took me about 2 hours to fall in love forever with this country, I would be insulted if anybody described me as a Hungarian-Canadian because I am and forever will be CANADIAN.
