With the help of our donors, we have created a series of Culture Trunks. These trunks are perfect for anyone wishing to learn more about the immigration history to Canada from a particular country or about their own cultural heritage. We will continue to update these trunks as more material is donated to us.
Trunks are created with the help of private funding. If you wish to support a trunk, contact Marie Chapman, Chief Operating Officer.
The content of our trunks is determined by what has been donated to us. If you would like to contribute a photo, story or article, please contact Carrie-Ann, Chief, Audience Engagement.

The Italian Trunk will be rich with stories of the exciting journey to Canada, travels by train across the country, settling in a new land and the kindness of strangers along the way. There will be countless photos of the old country, the ships that made the long crossing, families arriving at the Pier and their bright futures in Canada. Learn about first tastes of squishy white bread and first experiences of frigid Canadian winters. Participate in a uniquely historical and cultural exploration of our collections.
Culture Trunks appeal to people young and old who wish to gain more knowledge about a specific country’s immigration to Canada. Each Culture Trunk serves as a wonderful introduction to our broader archives. And, since the Trunks are updated as people submit their stories, photos and documents to the Museum’s collections, there is always something new to discover!
