Education groups include school groups, cadets, girl guides and boy scouts, ESL students, university groups, and other organizations dedicated to education and visiting with an educational purpose. Groups must be 10 students or larger not including chaperones to qualify for the group rate.
Group visits can be booked for any time in which the museum is open. See Museum Hours.
One week notice is requested for groups booking a tour and film. Two weeks is requested for groups booking workshops.
The film is shown in complete dark and can be scary for very young children. The content itself is not inappropriate although it may be very emotional for some people.
The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 can accomodate a maximum of 200 participants and chaperones at one time. This is not ideal but is possible. If your group is larger, a rotation will need to be arranged.
Chaperone ratios are left to the discretion of the school or organization, however, it is the responsibility of the school or organization to ensure that students are supervised at all times during their visit.
The Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 is fully wheelchair accessible and makes every effort to accommodate all of its visitors, however, we can not provide one on one assistance. If you have a child that requires some accommodation in your group, please let us know when you book and any suggestions you have for how best to accommodate that participant and the Museum will make every effort to see that everything possible is done.
