The Story Collection
The First hand accounts of immigrants help us understand what it’s like to arrive in an unknown land with an uncertain future. Canada is undeniably stronger and richer because of the immigrants who chose and continue to choose it as their home. We also owe a great debt to the service personnel who fought in the Second World War.
The Story collection continues to build on its 2000 stories of immigration and WWII experiences.
Telling All the Stories
We are collecting stories about all immigration to Canada.
- Pre-Pier 21 stories written by the descendants and families of those arriving in the 18th and 19th centuries.
- Memoirs from Pier 21 alumni or those who arrived at any of Canada’s ports or borders.
- Post Pier 21 stories from immigrants and refugees between 1971 and today.
These stories will be among the raw materials used to create future museum exhibits that tell the whole story of immigration to Canada.
