Building Bridges:
A Skill Development Workshop in Empathy-based Communication

Ideal For: Adaptable for most age groups; recommended for 12+

Number of participants: 15 minimum, 30 maximum

“I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something.”
- Richard Linklater, Before Sunrise

Every interaction we have, every connection we seek to make - whether we have much or little in common with the other party - is only as good as our ability to communicate. And great communication is not about how we talk, it’s about how we listen.

This communication workshop is designed to help participants build their active listening skills, develop their empathetic vocabulary (verbal and non-verbal), and connect with others across personal and social challenges. In some ways the opposite of Storytelling, Building Bridges teaches Story-Taking-In – how to forge bonds by bearing witness to another’s experience.

Minimum duration: 1 h 30 mins / Maximum duration: 6 hrs (full day w/ 30 min lunch break)
