Classroom Attendants contribute to the effective operation of the Windsor Foundation Global Classroom within the Education Services Department.
Classroom Attendants are responsible for greeting, directing and engaging visitors to the Windsor Foundation Global Classroom (WFGC) in a professional, visitor focused, fun and respectful way.
Classroom Attendants are also responsible for maintaining the classroom in a neat and orderly way, preparing materials, conducting inventory, and assisting with workshops and programming
Time/Place: The Windsor Foundation Global Classroom is open during all museum operational hours. Shifts can be arranged during operational hours. Operational hours vary throughout the year. Please see www.pier21.ca for details. The Windsor Foundation Global Classroom is located on the museum level of Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Road, Halifax, NS. No more than 2 Classroom Attendants will be scheduled per shift.
All Education Services Department staff and volunteers are required to attend monthly meetings/training sessions on the first Wednesday of the month from 1pm-4pm.
Length of Commitment: Classroom Attendants should be committed to minimum period of 6 months or to a minimum of 30 shifts depending on the frequency of shifts. Volunteers are always encouraged to remain longer than the minimum commitment.
Working Conditions: Pier 21 is a diverse, respectful and team oriented workplace. Volunteers are a respected and important part of the Pier 21 team. Some minimal lifting may be required.
Training/Preparation: Museum welcome and general orientation provided by the Visitor Services Team Leader. Task specific training provided by the Manager of Education Services.
Supervision: This position reports to the Manager of Education Services. Volunteers are required to sign in and out during every shift.
